Hjalmar Palmgren
Head of Production and Promotion at SFI
Hjalmar Palmgren joins the Swedish Film Institute as Head of Production and Promotion from 1 March 2013. For the past five years Hjalmar has been commisioning editor for documentaries on arts and culture at the Swedish public broadcaster SVT and from 2002-2005 he served as documentary consultant at the Swedish Film Institute. Hjalmar is taking over from Charlotta Denward.

Andreas Fock New Shorts Consultant at SFI

Andreas Fock will, as of 15 January 2013, be the new short film consultant at the Swedish Film Institute. Fock has since 2008 been responsible for international launch of Swedish shorts at the film institute and has build up extensive knowledge about Swedish short films and international film festivals. Fock will be returning to SFI after a year living in Switzerland, also working with short films and festivals and is taking over from Andra Lasmanis.

Klara Grunning-Harris stays on Until 2014

Documentary film consultant at the Danish Film Institute, Klara Grunning-Harris, will stay in her position for two more years. She came to DFI in 2010 and will stay until September 2014.

New Head of Development for Shorts and Documentaries at DFI

Danish producer Ane Mandrup Pedersen joins the Danish Film Institute as the new Head of Development for Shorts and Documentaries. She has produced several successful shorts, documentaries and commercials for various companies and has taught Film History at the University of Copenhagen. Among her latest projects as a producer and marketing consultant is the international documentary series Why Poverty. She will take on her new position at DFI in mid-November 2012, taking over from Malene Flindt Pedersen, who will go back to being a producer.

Charlotta Denward Leaves SFI
Charlotta Denward is leaving her position as Head of Production and Promotion at the Swedish Film Institute and is taking over as Head of Production at the film company Svensk Filmindustri. Denward spent seven years at the production company Filmlance International as in-house producer before joining the SFI. She will take over from Svensk Filmindustri's current Head of Production Börje Hansson on 1 November 2012.

New Film Commissioner at New Danish Screen

Producer Marie Schmidt Olesen is replacing Peter Schønau Fog as commissioning editor at the Danish Film Institute's New Danish Screen.  A prize-winning film producer and journalist with a background in radio, Schmidt Olesen joins DFI from a position as CEO and partner at the Scottish production company Autonomi Ltd. Previously she headed the organisation Diversity Films, whose primary goal is to train new talents through mentorships. She will take over from Peter Schønau Fog, who is returning to filmmaking, on 1 November 2012.

New Head of Unit at the Danish Film Institute

Lars Langballe is the new Head of Unit, Distribution & Promotion at the Danish Film Institute; an area responsible for distributing Danish films on a national and international level.

Coming from a background in the film and media industry involved in more than 200 film distributions, Lars is leaving a job as owner of the company Promotion Partners. Previously Lars has worked as operational director at Preview Networks, marketing manager at Sandrew Metronome Film Distribution, and contact manager at the media agency OMD Denmark.

Lars Langballe took up his duties mid August 2012.

Malene Flindt Pedersen Leaves DFI

Head of Unit, Short and Documentary Film, Malene Flindt Pedersen is leaving the Danish Film Institute to return to being a producer.

Malene Flindt Pedersen was recruited as Head of Unit in 2005 and is leaving the position by the end of September 2012.

"I have been incredibly happy about my seven years at the Danish Film Institute and about the cooperation with the Danish short and documentary industry. It is a highly skilled and innovative industry, so it is with a great amount of awe that I start producing again."

New Documentary Consultants at NFI

Producer KriStine Ann Skaret and director Even Benestad will be the new documentary consultants at the Norwegian Film Institute. KriStine Ann Skaret will take on the position October 1st replacing Stig Andersen, while Even Benestad will take over from Maria Fuglevaag Warsinska-Varsi from the beginning of 2013.

KriStine Ann Skaret has been working as a producer at Medieoperatørene since 2007. Titles include Imagining Emanuel, From Prison to Parliament, The Good Capitalist, Control, Human.

Director Even Benestad made his first feature-length documentary All About My Father in 2002, portraying Benestad's relationship with his own father, a well-respected doctor and transvestite. Benestad has since then made two documentaries for the Norwegian cinemas Natural Born Star in 2007 and recently Pushwagner which had it's international premiere at Hot Docs in 2011.

DFI CEO Stays on Until 2016
The CEO of the Danish Film Institute (DFI) Henrik Bo Nielsen will stay in his position for three more years, until the summer of 2016. The decision to prolong his contract was taken unanimously by the board of DFI. Henrik Bo Nielsen came to DFI as CEO in 2007 from a position as Chief Executive of the daily newspaper Information. His contract was set to expire in July 2013.

New Film Consultant at Film Stockholm
After the summer Anne-Marie Söhrman Fermelin will step in as acting consultant for talent development at Film Stockholm/Filmbasen. Anne-Marie has previously been short film consultant at the Swedish Film Institute and most recently Senior Lecturer at the School of Film Directing at Gothenburg University. She will temporarily replace Joakim Blendulf who will be on paternity leave until the turn of 2012/13.

Anne-Marie takes up her duties on 27 August and will be responsible for support for youth film and talent development at Film Stockholm/Filmbasen. She will continue as Senior Lecturer at the School of Film Directing.

Samuel Sjöblom, responsible for development of Filmbasen's website and crowdfunding site, will also be on paternity leave during autumn 2012. His tasks will be taken over by another member of the staff, Robert Andersson.

Nordic World Hires Director of Sales and Acquisitions
Former Mastiff Television producer Ann Christin Siljan is taking on the newly created role of director of sales and acquisitions at sales alliance Nordic World, a position she takes up on 1 August.

Siljan was previously producer and executive producer for format development and sales at Norway's Mastiff Television where she worked on Trinny & Susannah: Mission Norway, Fort Boyard Norway, Don't Tell The Bride and Norway's Ugliest Room.

First Nordic Transmedia Commissioner at BoostHbg
The Nordic countries' has gotten its first Transmedia Commissioner, Annika Gustafson at BoostHbg.

Annika has a vast experience in film and sees herself as a creative problem solver. She has spent several years in France and 15 years in Montreal before returning to Sweden, first as a producer for BUFF:ff and now as the first transmedia commissioner at BoostHbg. Annika holds an international MBA specialized in film production from University of Lund, Sweden, and École Supérieure du Commerce de Paris, France.

Ulla Bergström New Executive Director of DocPoint

Ulla Bergström will be taking on the responsibilities as Executive Director for DocPoint - Helsinki Documentary Film Festival from Leena Närekangas on 1 August 2012.

Bergström recently worked as a production coordinator at Turku European Capital of Culture 2011 Programme team. In the film industry Bergström has worked as an animation director, animator and character designer at Bergani Films Ltd, YLE and Per Holst AB. She has also lectured about media production and animation expression.

As an Executive Director Bergström would like to develop the festival as a meeting point for documentary film and a knowledgeable audience. "Documentary film is an eagle-eyed and well-thought perspective to today's topics. I believe there is a documentary film for every one of us, a film that shakes, questions and even changes the way we see the world. The festival should create possibilities for these encounters", says Bergström.

The 12th edition of DocPoint - Helsinki Documentary Film Festival will take place in Helsinki, Finland on 22-27 January 2013.

New Head of Finance and Production at Icelandic Film Centre

Ásdís Höskuldsdóttir is the new head of Finance and Production at the Icelandic Film Centre where she took over from Sigurrós Hilmarsdóttir 1 March. Höskuldsdóttir holds a Business degree from the University of Iceland. Between 1995-2000, she worked as Administration Manager for programming and news at Iceland's Channel 2, before taking on administrative responsibilities for various Icelandic companies, such as PP Publishing and ELM Design Fashion House.

DFI Renews Claus Ladegaard's Mandate

Claus Ladegaard, Head of Production and Development at the Danish Film Institute (DFI) since 2006, has had his contract renewed and will stay in his position until 2015. Ladegaard holds a master in communications and came to DFI after 10 years at the production company Easy Film.

Henrik Bo Nielsen, CEO of DFI says: "Claus Ladegaard has played a pivotal role in the preparation of the current Film Agreement as well as in its implementation, now in full swing".

Høgel Stays at New Danish Screen until 2014

The artistic director of the Danish Film Institute's New Danish Screen (NDS) Jakob Høgel will stay in his position until 31 May 2014. Since 2007 Høgel has been the artistic director of DFI's talent support programme NDS operated jointly with DR and TV 2 Danmark. Recent films supported by the programme include The Ambassador by Mads Brügger and Ballroom Dancer by Christian Holten Bonke and Andreas Koefoed, both screened at IDFA 2011.

Strange-Hansen New Head of Programme in Odense

Odense International Film Festival (OFF) has announced this year's Head of Programme - film director Martin Strange-Hansen. Strange-Hansen has won two Academy Awards for his shorts and is currently the chairman of the association Danish Film Directors.

Strange-Hansen will be taking the lead in the selection of the approximately 100 films that are to compete for the festival's prizes. With the task of putting together special programmes, seminars and events he will have ample opportunity to leave his artistic mark on the festival programme.

OFF is Denmark's short film festival. The festival celebrates and pays tribute to short films of all sorts. Every year, a new head of programme is appointed to accompany the head of festival in making sure that the festival remains dynamic, and continues to present new and exciting short films of high quality.

Dorte Høeg Brask Stays at DFI Until 2014

Documentary and Short Film Commissioner at the Danish Film Institute, Dorte Høeg Brask's contract has been extended for another two years. Høeg Brask joined the DFI in February 2010 and will stay in position until 31 January 2014, still with a special focus on children and youth films.

Svein Inge Sæther New Head of Femmina International Film Festival

Svein Inge Sæther is the new head of Femmina International Film Festival, featuring films made by women filmmakers. Since 2001 Sæther has been the manager of the Cinematheque in Trondheim and has worked as a curator, catalogue editor and industry coordinator at Kosmorama. Sæther takes over from Marit Bakken, head of the festival since 2004.

Sean Farnel Acquisitions Consultant at SnagFilms

Sean Farnel, the former director of programming at Hot Docs, has taken on a new role as Acquisitions Consultant for the digital distributor SnagFilms. Farnel left the Toronto-based festival last June after 6 years in position. Before this Farnel was a programmer at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Tove Torbiörnsson Back at SFI
Former documentary consultant at the Swedish Film Institute Tove Torbiörnsson is returning to SFI to head the new department Omvärld. The department will be dealing with domestic matters and the role of film in society. Torbiörnsson will assume her new role on 1 March 2012.

Bengt Toll Leaving SFI
After three years in key positions at the Swedish Film Institute, including acting CEO, Bengt Toll has decided to leave the film institute. Toll started as Head of the Audience & Promotion Department after holding a position as Head of Development at the regional film centre Film i Väst. When Cissi Elwin Frenkel stepped down, he took over as acting CEO of SFI and now that the new CEO is in place, Toll sees it as a good time to move on. Toll will remain in the film industry, but with the west coast as his base, and is looking forward to spending more time at home after weekly commuting between Gothenburg and Stockholm.

Christian Lemche New EFP President
The Danish Film Institute's Christian Juhl Lemche has been elected as the new president of the promotional network for European cinema worldwide, European Film Promotion (EFP). The DFI Festival Manager for Feature Films is succeeding Hungary's Éva Vezér. Lemche is currently the manager of the Danish Film Institute's projects for the Danish Presidency of the European Union from 1 January to 30 June 2012.

Berit Vordal New Kosmorama Director
Berit Vordal is the new festival director of Kosmorama Trondheim International Film Festival. Vordal comes from a position as communications advisor and has held various positions in theatre. She is succeeding Ola Lund Renolen who will remain at the festival as head of the program department.

Kati Nuora New International Information Officer at the Finnish Film Foundation
Kati Nuora has been appointed International Information Officer at the Finnish Film Foundation, replacing Tytti Rantanen who will be working on her PhD. Nuora will promote Finnish films internationally and communicate the success of Finnish films nationally. Nuora holds a Master's degree in Art and has been working at the Finnish Film Foundation for the last two years as assistant to the managing director.

Frédéric Boyer Artistic Director of Tribeca Film Festival
Cannes Film Festival veteran Frédéric Boyer, who most recently ran the Directors' Fortnight, has been appointed Artistic Director of Tribeca Film Festival. The 11th annual Tribeca Film Festival will take place from 18-29 April 2012.
