Meet the Nordic Delegation at Hot Docs
Great Nordic films have been selected for the 2014 edition of Hot Docs, North America's premier documentary festival, market and conference, taking place in Toronto, Canada, 24 April-4 May 2014. This year the festival has put a special focus on Denmark, with the Made In Denmark programme highlighting the high calibre of filmmaking in the Danish documentary community.

Mette Hoffmann Meyer, commissioning editor of documentaries for DR, Danish Broadcasting Corporation, has been selected to receive the 2014 Doc Mogul Award. The award recognizes an individual who has made an essential contribution to the creative vitality of the documentary industry.

Lots of Nordics will be present at the festival. We have coordinated a delegation of documentary professionals from the Nordic countries who will be attending different parts of the event. So there should be a good chance of meeting us at either the screenings, the International Co-Production Day, the Hot Docs Forum and around.

Forum Manager Christina Jul Gregersen will be present at the festival 26 April-1 May. To set up a meeting with Christina, send her an email or contact her at +45 6131 8539.

Check out the Nordic films and projects in the Official Selection. Buyers, festival programmers, sales agents and distributors can already now check out some of the Nordic films at Hot Docs at Nordisk Panorama Market Online, our professional streaming service for Nordic shorts and docs.

Nordic Short Film Commissioners Gathered in Copenhagen
In the end of March, we once again gathered the short film commissioners from the national film institutes and public broadcasters in Copenhagen as a part of our continuous efforts to further collaboration between the shorts and docs communities of the Nordic countries.

On the agenda for this meeting was a.o. the international short film day on the shortest day of the year. This year 15 countries world wide used the day to celebrate the short format and more will join this year. Look forward to seeing the Nordic initiatives on the 21 December!

The other big topic of the day was the creation of a short film day during Nordisk Panorama, focusing on Nordic cooperation. We're looking very much forward to showing you the result at this year's Nordisk Panorama.

DFI Launches Shorts & Docs Streaming Service
Hundreds of Danish short films and documentaries, both new and classic titles, are now available for free on the Danish Film Institute's new streaming service Filmcentralen.dk.

At Filmcentralen / For alle hundreds of titles can be watched directly without restriction, subscription or password. If a title isn't available directly on the site, the user will be directed to other services where the film is available, be it the Danish libraries' existing streaming service, Filmstriben or commercial services. This part of the service has been developed in collaboration with the Danish Producers' Association, for producers to be able to explore the potential financial gain from commercial distribution. Besides watching films, users can read interviews, talent profiles or in-depth articles.

Henrik Bo Nielsen, head of the DFI says: "We have worked a long time to make these films accessible to Danish citizens. Danish short films and documentaries are of exceptional quality and tell important stories. Audiences flock to festivals and events, and many films achieve high ratings on television. But we need to make these films available to an even broader audience".

Filmcentralen.dk also contains a section for teachers and students (Filmcentralen / Undervisning) with plenty of inspiring materials and articles. Check the streaming platform at www.filmcentralen.dk.
