Here are some samples of what you definitely don't want to miss:
Guest of Honour: Kim Longinotto
Kim
Longinotto visits the festival, sharing her vast experience in a
Masterclass and a retrospective. The British filmmaker has won numerous
awards for her documentary films. The Day I Will Never Forget (2002) was awarded the Amnesty International Doen Award at IDFA and Best Doc UK Spotlight at Hot Docs. Sisters in Law (2005) won the Prix Art et Essai and Special Mention Europa Cinemas at the Cannes film festival in 2005.
Jens Jonsson: My Dinner With...
We
have asked the highly acclaimed filmmaker Jens Jonsson to invite an
estimated colleague for a live tête-à-tête. Jens Jonsson has recently
received international attention for his first feature film The King of Ping Pong (2008) that won the Grand Jury Prize and Best Cinematography at Sundance Film Festival.
Jens Jonsson has invited Joachim Trier from Norway for a chat about their lives in film. Joachim Trier's short films Procter (2002), Pietà (2000) and Still
(2000) have been shown at over 30 film festivals around the world
winning several prizes such as Prix UIP and Best British and European
Film at Edinburgh International Film Festival. Joachim Trier's first
feature, Reprise (2006), has won more than 20 awards at festivals worldwide.
Punk Animation! - Phil Mulloy
With
a sharp wit and insightful observations this British animator is
challenging us with his pitch-black punk fables. This series is not for
the easily revolted or the prudish.
More Crossover Than Ever
Nordisk
Panorama is focusing on the cross media development and is hosting the
PostTvMedia seminar presenting the crossover guru Frank Boyd from BBC
Innovation Lab and Heather Croall, his partner at the internationally
acclaimed Crossover Labs. You will also meet Sarita Christensen from
Copenhagen Bombay, a pioneer of multi platform productions. Simon
Egenfeldt-Nielsen from Serious Games, the creators of the reality game
Palestine, examines the crossroad between games and reality. The
seminar is moderated by Karolina Lidin.
The Nordic Crossover Pitch
The
crossover rally continues with the final pitch of Crossover Nordic Lab,
where 20 innovative cross media projects are competing for the
attention of Nordic financiers and a 100.000 SEK award. The mentors
Frank Boyd and Heather Croall call the shots during the event.
Nordisk Short Film Circle - Go Mobile!
For
the third time, Filmkontakt Nord is proud to present the Nordisk Short
Film Circle, engaging the Nordic Short film community in discussions
about the past, present and future of the Nordic short film in a global
context. This time focusing on shorts for the two-inch giant - the
mobile phone!
Nordisk Panorama Market and International Market Talks
This
year, Nordisk Panorama Market goes digital guaranteeing the attending
Nordic and international buyers, distributors, and festival programmers
utmost efficiency. At the same time FkN introduces a new initiative
directed at filmmakers with a series of international market talks and
professional meetings that bring some of the key players and key issues
of today's short and documentary film market into focus. Don't miss
this opportunity to get to know who is who, who does what, and how to
do it right yourself!
Nordisk Forum 2008
Featuring
pitching sessions, pre-booked individual meetings, and social events
Nordisk Forum is a valuable meeting place which offers financiers the
opportunity to network among themselves as well as with the attending
filmmakers and producers with new documentary projects. In turn the
event offers the independent community insight into the
programming/funding policies of the broadcasters and funding
institutions. Finally,
for observers and film school students Nordisk Forum is an
educational experience, encountering the professional financing process
first hand.
Nordisk Forum 2008 will take place in Malmö from
29-30 September. We expect some 200 professionals to attend the event
and are very much looking forward to two productive days discussing the
selected projects.
We have selected 22 new projects from 64 applications. Find the programme and pitching schedule here.
Moderators
The
pitching sessions will be moderated by Cecilia Lidin, Film Consultant
at European Documentary Network (Denmark), Ulla Simonen, Producer
(Finland), Jan Rofekamp, Distributor at Films Transit (Canada). Find
their profiles here.
Nordisk Forum Online
We
offer registered producers and observers to present a short clip or
trailer of a project, together with a synopsis and other production
information, giving attending financiers the opportunity to preview the
Nordisk Forum projects online and see short trailer excerpts. In
addition, financiers' profiles and online meeting booking will be
available when the site opens 8 September.
The site will be restricted to producers selected to pitch, observers with projects and attending financiers.
NF Introduces Distributors
In
addition to the individual meetings between producers and financiers,
we are introducing a new service. 3 distributors: Sirkka Möller,
Deckert Distribution (Germany), Susanne Guggenberger, Autlook Filmsales
(Austria) and Esther van Messel, First Hand Films World Sales
(Switzerland), will be available during Nordisk Forum, sharing their
knowledge about the international television market and giving advice
about a project's potential in terms of distribution.
Until we see each other live, you can make friends with the festival at MySpace or join the Nordisk Panorama Facebook Group.
Welcome to Malmö!
