2 Weeks to Submit Your Project to Nordisk Forum
Submission of projects to the 21st Nordisk Forum for Co-financing of Documentaries is closing in just 2 weeks, so get your projects ready for the deadline 6 June. Nordisk Forum is the main funding event for the Nordic documentary community, taking place 21-23 September during Nordisk Panorama in Malmö, Sweden.
Nordisk Forum welcomes independent documentary projects in all stages from Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Greenland, The Faroe Islands, Åland, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia. The forum is also open for cross-media documentary projects with a film or television component.
To apply for Nordisk Forum with a project, check out the guidelines and make sure you have everything ready and submitted online by the deadline 6 June. Read the full call for projects here. The deadline for accreditation to Nordisk Forum is 1 August.

Meet the Balkan Delegation at Nordisk Forum
This year, Nordisk Forum welcomes a specially invited Balkan delegation to facilitate connections outside the Nordic countries.
The Balkan producers will participate in the networking event Producers Meet Producers, where they will outline their production landscape and present themselves. Furthermore, the Balkan delegation has been invited to apply for pitching and meetings on the same terms as their Nordic colleagues. A maximum of 2 foreign delegation projects can be selected for pitching and they also have the possibility of being selected as observer+.
In addition, we will welcome a number of Balkan decision-makers to the pitching and meeting tables.
The Balkan delegation is arranged in co-operation with Balkan Documentary Center as part of their workshop BDC Discoveries 2014. Read more here.

Twelve for the Future & Nordisk Forum Join Forces
This year Twelve for the Future, a project driven co-production workshop for young Nordic documentary producers and directors organized by EDN, has joined forces with Nordisk Forum for Co-financing of Documentaries. The workshop aims at developing projects for international co-production, establishing a professional network for the participants as well as connecting Nordic talents and relevant financiers.
Twelve for the Future is focusing on project development, networking, presentation techniques and financing opportunities. Guided by experienced tutors and working in small groups, the workshop creates an informal atmosphere of knowledge and mutual inspiration, leading to encouraging discussions and feedback.
The workshop programme is divided in 2 parts. The 1st part takes place 18-21 September in Hjärnarp, Sweden, right before this year's Nordisk Panorama. As Twelve for the Future has joined forces with Nordisk Forum, an observer seat has been reserved for all workshop participants for the two pitching days on 22-23 September. Furthermore a discount on the observer seat will be available for all participants who are newcomers to the Forum.

550 Films Submitted for the 25th Nordisk Panorama
Submission of films for competition at the 25th anniversary edition of Nordisk Panorama is now closed. We have received 550 film submissions for the competition, of which 260 are documentaries and 290 are short films from all the Nordic countries.
The selection of films for the competition programme will be announced by August, and throughout the summer we'll keep you updated with glimpses of upcoming seminars and side programmes for Nordisk Panorama 2014.
You can still submit your films completed in 2014 to Nordisk Panorama Market, where buyers, distributors, sales agents and programmers screen films all day long during the festival. Your film will then also be available to buyers, distributors, sales agents and programmers at our online streaming service Nordisk Panorama Market Online. Deadline for submission of films completed in 2014 to the market is 1 August. Click here for regulations and online submission.
The accreditation for Nordisk Panorama is now open. Register before 15 August to get the early bird discount and join the prominent community of international and Nordic short and documentary representatives attending the festival. The early bird fee is 795 DKK (107 €). The fee for students is 575 DKK (77 €).

Call for Projects & Hackers for NP Hackathon
Is your story bigger than a 58' slot? Would you like to engage your audience using several platforms to tell your story?
Nordisk Panorama invites you to be inspired and amazed: Hand over your project to the 30 game developers, programmers, filmmakers and designers in the Nordisk Panorama Hackathon and receive several proposals / prototypes for digital experiences for your project in return.
The prototypes might be presented as games, websites, apps, illustrations - the point is to explore many different ways to develop a project. It's completely up to you how to use the work afterwards: to help communicate your project ideas, to test the prototypes or to build on them to build digital products.

We also need hackers! Apart from producing like there's no tomorrow, the Hackathon is all about process: experiencing how to collaborate with people from other industries and learning new skills.

Nordic Delegation at Sheffield Doc/Fest
Director Katrine Kiilgaard and programme manager Lisa Nyed will be at Sheffield Doc/Fest with a Nordic delegation of film professionals. 10 Nordic projects have been selected for this year's MeetMarket and Crossover Market and 6 films with Nordic involvement can be enjoyed in the official selection.
Monday 9 June the Nordics can kick off their evening in good company at the Nordic dinner hosted by Nordisk Panorama. On Tuesday 10 June we will once again be hosting our infamous Nordic Vodka Hour at 23:00 during the 'Dogwoof and Sheffield Doc/Fest present the Guilty Pleasures Party' at PLUG, 14-16 Matilda Street, Sheffield S1 4QD. New Five Year Agreement to Support Nordic Films & TV
The Nordic Ministers of Culture together with the Nordic film institutes and television stations have come to a new five-year agreement for Nordisk Film & TV Fond. According to the agreement The Fund will run from 2015 to 2019 on its current budget level of DKK 78 million.
"Nordic film and television series play an increasingly important role in our understanding of each other both within the Nordic countries and especially abroad where they help brand the Nordic culture and countries. So we are very happy to continue to support this collaboration with the Nordic film and television industry", says Illugi Gunnarsson, Minister of Culture in Iceland, which holds the chairmanship of the Nordic Council of Ministers in 2014.
"We see the Council of Ministers' continued participation as a sign of recognition to the work all the industry partners have done during the past years in creating success that has already been labeled The Golden Age for Nordic films and television", says Petri Kemppinen, CEO of Nordisk Film & TV Fond.
Nordisk Film & TV Fond supports the yearly production and distribution of about 50 feature films, documentaries and television dramas. It supports and organizes industry events like the annual Nordic Talents and acts as secretariat to the prestigious Nordic Council Film Prize.
One third of the Fund's yearly budget of DKK 78 million (€10.4 m) is provided by the Nordic Council of Ministers, one third by the five national film institutes and one third by the participating 11 Nordic public service channels and commercial broadcasters.

Reykjavík Film Festival Comes Back to Life
After ceasing its operations in 2001, the Reykjavík Film Festival will be re-launched in the fall and will take place 12-21 September. The festival started in 1978 as the bi-annual Film Festival of the Reykjavík Arts Festival and became an annual festival in 1996 when the associations of Icelandic filmmakers took over.
The festival will be run as a non-profit organization (NPO) in co-operation with the NPO Heimili kvikmyndanna, which runs Bíó Paradís, Reykjavík's only independent arthouse cinema. The board consists of representatives of the Icelandic filmmakers associations, The Actors Union and The Icelandic Dramatists Union and includes one of the original founding members, director Fridrik Thór Fridriksson.
It has received support from the City of Reykjavík and Promote Iceland.
The festival's main section will be a tribute to the best of new European cinema. In addition, a wide array of the most prominent, award-winning films from around the globe will be introduced to Icelandic audiences, and contemporary Icelandic cinema will be given an important focus.
A special emphasis will also be on providing a platform for the domestic and international film communities to come together, and to foster cooperation and collaboration between all of the key institutions within the Icelandic film industry.

Denmark & New Zealand Enter Co-production Agreement
New Zealand and Denmark have entered a formal co-production agreement providing new opportunities for collaboration between the two countries' film and television industries. The agreement was signed at the Cannes Festival by the New Zealand Film Commission and the Danish Film Institute.
"We are really pleased to have reached an agreement with New Zealand," says Henrik Bo Nielsen, CEO of the Danish Film Institute. "It gives us great opportunities for launching new and exciting projects. We have similar treaties with Canada and France; this time we have made sure to cover the entire audiovisual field, thus including television, computer games and cross-media in the agreement".
With this new co-production agreement, Danish films can apply for funding in New Zealand and vice versa and the co-production process will be made easier in terms of attaining residence permits and importation of film equipment between the two countries.

Sundance Institute Launches Short Film Challenge
Sundance Institute, in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, invites storytellers from around the globe to be a part of their first-ever Short Film Challenge with the chance of winning $ 10,000.
The challenge is open to fiction or documentary shorts of 3-8 minutes, touching on economic inequalities in the world, in an empowering and optimistic way. The task is to create a unique, compelling and personal short film that explores an empowering person or shares an optimistic story of individuals and communities who are overcoming poverty and hunger, combatting disease, or improving health.
The five winning short films will premiere at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and the five winning filmmakers will each receive a $ 10,000 prize and an an all-expenses paid trip to attend the festival as the special guest of Sundance Institute and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
