New director of Filmkontakt Nord

On January 15th 2008 Filmkontakt Nord (FkN) will be welcoming its new director, Karin Johansson-Mex. Karin is replacing Karolina Lidin, who has been working as the director of Filmkontakt Nord since January 2002.

During the years Karolina served as the director of Filmkontakt Nord the organisation has taken a lead onto the international arena and has helped to establish the Nordic brand as a high-quality profile of utmost significance.

The new director Karin Johansson-Mex hopes to continue the excellent work initiated by Karolina Lidin. Karin started out studying documentary filmmaking at the Nordens Folkhögskola Biskops Arnö and continued her studies at The Academy of Art College in San Francisco, USA. Since then she has worked as a producer of film and cultural production in many various forms. Karin first got aquainted with Filmkontakt Nord working as the festival director of the Nordisk Panorama in Malmö, 2003. She is currently working as the Regional Coordinator of Film Production at the Department of Economic Development & Innovation of Skåne, Sweden.

In regard to her new position as the Director of Filmkontakt Nord she states: "I feel proud to continue in the footsteps of Karolina Lidin. Karolina has done an extraordinary work for the Nordic film community and the organisation of Filmkontakt Nord, all due to her cooperative and strategic competence combined with a graceful and charming personality with high social skills".

"I hope to further strengthen the organisation and the Nordic film environment in close cooperation with the Board, the film community and the national film institutions. I hope to lead the organisation together with its skilled staff into a new era with specific focus upon the changing media landscape where new business models and means of production will lead our way into the future".

I hope to build strong support structures enhancing the professional competence of our film makers and anticipate promoting our talented Nordic film community even wider on the Nordic and international arena."
