Music Rights & Vodka Hour at Tampere Film Festival
Filmkontakt Nord will host the first ever Nordisk Panorama Town Hall during Tampere Film Festival, Finland, 6-10 March. The NP Town Hall gathers key industry stakeholders for a Nordic forum intended to address current obstacles in the short and documentary film industry.
The first NP Town Hall is hosted by Vice Chairman of the FkN board Sami Jahnukainen and the theme for discussion will be music rights in shorts & docs on a Nordic level. On the panel we have Ulla Saari / Teosto, Heidi Wilska-Lehtonen / Gramex, Aku Toivonen / Elvis, Lottaliina Lehtinen / Muusikkojen liitto, Sari Väänänen / Suomen Elokuvatuottajien keskusliitto and Mika Levo / Apollo Music.
The event will take place at Werstas Auditorium, Väinö Linnan aukio 8, Friday 8 March at 13:30 and will be followed by an infamous Nordic Vodka Hour at 16:00. Join Nordisk Panorama Market Manager Jing Haase and Sami Jahnukainen for a drink at Vooninki-hall, almost next door.

Call for Projects: Filmkontakt Nord Partners with Crowdfunding Platform Manymade
Filmkontakt Nord is proud to announce its partnership with the new Nordic crowdfunding platform, Manymade. Manymade is a recently launched non-profit crowdfunding platform for the Nordic countries with a particular focus on art, culture and creative technologies.
As we launch this relationship with Manymade and explore the crowdfunding model with our community, Filmkontakt Nord is announcing a "Call for Projects" for a Manymade-FkN crowdfunding campaign with special mentoring from the Manymade team. This will give 3 selected projects a unique opportunity to kick off their crowdfunding campaign, which will be featured on the FkN and Manymade sites. Read more here.

DR Launches New Channels
The Danish Broadcasting Corporation DR is restructuring the profiles of its channels and launching new ones. The new profile of main channel DR1 was launched already in the fall with a stronger focus on public service. The new channel for younger audiences DR3 first aired on January 28 with a more provocative and entertaining profile. On March 4 the new DR2 and the two children's channels DR Ramasjang (for the youngest kids) and DR Ultra (for the older kids) will be launched.
The new DR2 will be a 24 hour channel focusing on society. It will have an international outlook and a mix of regular news updates, analysis, debate, satire and documentaries. The strong documentary slot Dokumania will still be found on DR2.

Streaming of Danish Docs
Danish subscription video-on-demand service YouBio will now offer 120 documentaries available for streaming online. This is a result of the Danish Producers' Association's initiative One Stop Shop, negotiating rights on behalf of its documentary producers. The initiative has already resulted in 55 docs being available on Netflix and with 120 films available through YouBio, documentary films will be widely accessible to the Danish public.
Danish broadcasters DR and TV2 and the Danish Producers' Association have also agreed on a new standard contract for documentaries, making it possible for some docs to premiere on VOD before TV broadcast.
According to Head of Production & Development at the Danish Film Institute Claus Ladegaard this is an attempt look forward when it comes to distribution of documentaries and he thinks that in some cases it may be a good idea to allow a film to generate revenue online before its TV premiere.
